Durham Psychotherapy | Ajax, Ontario | In-Person | Independent Contractor
Focus on Therapy. Let Us Handle the Administrative Work.
Durham Psychotherapy is growing, and we're seeking compassionate, experienced, and dedicated Registered Social Workers (RSW) and Registered Psychotherapists (RP) to join our team at our Ajax location.
We welcome clinicians at different stages of their professional journey, including established private practitioners who are considering closing, downsizing, or transitioning away from operating their own practice.
If you've spent years balancing clinical work with managing appointments, billing, marketing, client inquiries, and the day-to-day responsibilities of running a business, we understand how demanding that can become.
At Durham Psychotherapy, we aim to take much of that administrative burden off your shoulders so you can focus on what you do best: providing meaningful, high-quality psychotherapy.
Whether you're looking to transition your independent practice into a supportive group setting, supplement an existing caseload, or establish a long-term clinical home, we'd love to connect with you.
Why Join Durham Psychotherapy?
We recognize that therapists often enter private practice for the independence and flexibility it offers, only to discover how much time and energy goes into running a business.
Our goal is to offer the clinical independence of private practice with the operational support of an established clinic.
As part of our team, you'll benefit from:
- Comprehensive Administrative Support: Our administrative team assists with appointment scheduling, client inquiries, billing, and payment processing, reducing the time you spend managing operational tasks.
- Marketing and Referral Support: Benefit from the clinic's established online presence, marketing initiatives, and referral network to help develop and maintain your caseload.
- A Simplified Practice Experience: Spend less time managing office operations and more time providing therapy, developing professionally, and maintaining a sustainable work-life balance.
- Support for Established Private Practitioners: We welcome therapists interested in winding down or transitioning their independent practices. Our team can discuss how to make this process as smooth as possible while respecting existing therapeutic relationships, client choice, confidentiality, and professional obligations.
- Professional, Welcoming Office Space: Work from our Ajax location without the responsibilities associated with independently leasing, furnishing, and managing a clinical office.
- Clinical Autonomy: Maintain your professional judgment, therapeutic approach, and areas of specialization within a collaborative, evidence-informed group practice.
- Opportunities for Long-Term Growth: Develop your caseload with opportunities to expand your hours as client demand and office availability permit.
- A Supportive Clinical Community: Join a growing multidisciplinary team of therapists committed to providing accessible, ethical, and compassionate mental health care.

Interested in Transitioning Your Private Practice?
If you're an established therapist who enjoys clinical work but no longer wants the responsibility of operating an independent practice, we'd be happy to explore whether Durham Psychotherapy could be the right fit.
We recognize that transitioning away from an established practice is a significant professional decision. We're open to discussing individual circumstances, clinical specialties, existing caseloads, and how a potential transition could be structured thoughtfully and ethically.
You don't have to give up your clinical independence to receive meaningful administrative support.
