What ages and camp types are described?

How do camp age requirements work?

Children in 4-7 camps must be at least four at the start of the camp week, with no under-four exception. Some 5+ camps use age reached in the calendar year, but numerous named camps require minimum age by the start date. Ask the camp team about the actual listing before registration.

Care, busing and daily preparation

How long is a normal camp day?

Unless otherwise stated, camps run 9 am-4 pm. The guide's before-care hours are 7:30-9 am and after-care 4-5:30 pm, with after-care pickup starting at 4:30 pm to allow buses to arrive. Those are retained program rules, not confirmed next-season session times.

Can I buy before/after care without a camp place?

No. Register for the camp first, then the matching care barcode for that week. The service is an extension of camp and cannot be registered alone. Select the correct week and linked camp rather than a similarly named unrelated session.

Can I combine camp busing with before/after care?

The guide says not to register for both. Care includes transportation where needed, provided children arrive before the departure cutoff. The standalone bus hub is McLean Community Centre, with north and south destination lists. Future-season routes and charges have not yet been verified.

Pickup, swimming and changes

What should a camper bring?

Who is allowed to collect a child?

Only people listed as authorized may collect them. Children aged ten or older may leave themselves only with parent/guardian permission on the form or signed note. Younger children need the stated older-sibling same-home arrangement or a caregiver aged at least 14. Sign children in and out with staff.

What happens on a camp swimming day?

The guide says camps do not swim on the first day of the week and describes a first-visit swim assessment. Children six and under wear lifejackets in the shallow end with a counsellor. Ages seven and over need parental consent to take the deep-end test; supervision depends on age and result.

How do withdrawals, absences and support requests work?

Submit the withdrawal form before camp starts; the listed administration fee is $12 plus HST per camper per camp, with no refund after the session begins. Report absences to camps@ajax.ca or the seasonal hotline 365-282-6174. Arrange inclusion support through the separate one-to-one registration process before relying on staffing.
